3D RECREATION

proj2.PNG

The brief of this project is to recreate my own version of a rendered 3D scene from a 2D image that I have personally chosen.

The chosen 2D image is from the Disney "The Rescuers" due to the familiarity of the subject, how relatable it is by others, and I have not seen anyone doing any 3D modelling for this certain Disney movie.

From the chosen image, the role to be undertaken is the 3D generalist because of how the production workflow consists of a series of different tasks to deal with from modeling and texturing down to compositing that are needed to accomplish the project.

This video shows:

  • the original photo that was referenced in creating the 3D scene

  • the wireframe (all models done in Maya and Zbrush; textured in Substance Painter, Zbrush, and Photoshop)

  • the ambient occlusion

  •  the render passes that I needed to composite the photo from Renderman

  • the render layers that I needed such foreground and background separated so that I have more free rein in compositing the photo such as making depth of field and changes to curves or levels and

  • lastly, the composited photo from Photoshop.

These are the main characters, Miss Bianca and Bernard, and the clip comprises the breakdowns such wireframe, ambient occlusion, and beauty renders with and without Xgen Fur. Both characters have been rigged with controllers as well as blendshapes and clothes being paint weighted as well.
